Cluster farmstead

In the heart of the beautiful and wild Olden lies Olden Farm, originally a cluster farm dating back to the 15th century. For over 700 years, the families at Brynestad have sustained themselves from the fertile lands here.

Olden Farm is surrounded by mountains over 1,500 meters high. Several avalanches occur each winter, so the farm was built in the safest place the farmers could find. Here, you can see old, authentic houses from the 18th century and the farming tools they used at the time. In the ancient hearth, you’ll get a glimpse of how they used to cook their meals. Take a walk among the houses, stroll around, and enjoy the peace and quiet of a historic, yet still living, farmstead.
